About Driving Change
Everyone deserves a chance to succeed – and that’s why Kenny Waste Management launched its social enterprise programme, Driving Change.
The purpose of this programme is to help local people into real jobs. We believe in giving everyone the opportunity to find steady employment; and there is a huge benefit to our communities if local businesses like us, can do our bit to reduce long-term unemployment.
Our focus is for three key areas of employment. We are helping long-term unemployed, ex-offenders and apprentices gain career skills with us at Kenny Waste Management and this, in turn, contributes towards our target of £1million worth of social value generated by the summer of 2019.
Changing 20 lives by 2020
We’re so proud that we’ve helped people turn their lives around – and we want to carry on doing this. So, we’ve set ourselves a target – we want to change 20 lives by 2020.
What does this mean in practice? Driving Change has already helped ten people into meaningful jobs within our company, and we’ve supported them with skills training and qualifications. By 2020, we aim to have helped ten more individuals either get back into work or find their first job through our apprenticeship scheme.
We’re also taking our support to a new level, by working with local charities to help a homeless person back into work – and off the streets. We’ll provide the accommodation as well as the job, and hopefully, this will give an individual a real fresh start in life.
