Last week, we were proud to lend our support to a brilliant community project coordinated by EQUANS Regeneration. Together we are helping transforming an old, unsuitable playground into a new sensory garden for Special Educational Needs (SEN) students to enjoy.
The week-long project was a real team effort, and we were pleased to contribute through our social enterprise, as part of our partnership with EQUANS, volunteering and providing two large skips at a heavily discounted rate to help with the initial site clearance. With the old flooring and playground frames already removed, the stage was set for some real creativity to begin.
On the day we joined, there was a real buzz of activity: painting the new shed, weeding and planting, and even some joinery students building a guinea pig run! The students were fully involved, from painting colourful wooden blocks and birdhouses to helping out in the garden, and it was clear how much they were enjoying the process.
Our own task for the day? Varnishing the wooden blocks and benches to help them withstand the weather, a small and satisfying job knowing they’ll be part of a peaceful, engaging space for years to come.
Huge credit to Nicola Sorton, Social Value Officer at EQUANS, for brilliant coordination throughout. We’re excited to see the finished space, and proud to have played a part in creating something so meaningful for the students and school community.
Supporting projects like this is exactly what our social enterprise is all about — practical support, shared effort, and brighter futures.
