Helping Families at Christmas: Kenny Waste Management supports two fantastic local charities

Christmas is almost here, and for most of us, it’s a time to relax and enjoy ourselves. However, for some families, Christmas can be the most stressful and difficult time of the year – and at Kenny Waste Management, we made it our mission this season to support some of these struggling families.

Kenny Waste Management supports two fantastic local charities

Christmas is all about communities and sharing with others. Through our Driving Change social enterprise initiative, the team at Kenny Waste Management has chosen to help out two fantastic local charities: The Christie Charity and the Little Hulton Big Local project.

The Christie Charity is linked to The Christie hospital onWilmslow Road, Manchester, a specialist cancer hospital. Its aim is to provide services to patients and their families over and above what the NHS can provide and we have donated to their Teenage and Young Adult Unit.

Money given to this unit supports research into both cancer treatments and in finding more about the causes of cancer in young people. It also goes towards equipping and staffing the unit. It’s hard to imagine what these brave young people and their families must be going through, especially at this time of year, and we’re pleased to be able to offer our support to this wonderful unit.

KENNY WASTE MANAGEMENT’S YOUNG ADULTS GIVE PRESENTS TO DISDVANTAGED KIDS

It’s also heart-breaking to think that many local families are finding it hard to get by this Christmas, let alone buy presents for the kids. Every child should have the chance to celebrate Christmas, so this year we’re playing Santa, and have donated presents to the Little Hulton Big Local project.

Among other roles, this community-focussed scheme endeavours to bring happiness to local kids as well as practical support, and we’re delighted to be able to help. We hope the children enjoy their presents, and that the load is lightened, even if just a little bit, for their parents and carers.

If you’d like to find out more about the amazing work these two charities do, please have a look at their websites (links above). We’ve been so impressed by their energy and dedication to their work supporting families, and we’re delighted to have been able to help them.

At Kenny Waste Management, we have our own social enterprise initiative, Driving Change, which supports community projects and helps individuals into the workplace.
