This Social Enterprise Day, we’re proud to share the public release of our 2024–25 Social Value Impact Report — a look at the work made possible because of the organisations that choose to trade with our Social Enterprise.
Our mission is simple: to make career opportunities accessible to all, by working collaboratively in our communities.
This year, that mission has taken us into schools, prisons, workplaces, and neighbourhoods across the UK. And every step of the way, we’ve seen the difference that practical support and real partnership can make.
Supporting people into good jobs
One of the clearest impacts this year has been through paid work trials and placements.
We created 30 weeks of paid opportunities for people facing barriers, including young people, long-term unemployed individuals, and ex-offenders. Several of these opportunities led directly to employment — including Les, who joined us after decades of instability and is now thriving in his role.
Building career confidence in young people
Through Operation Basecamp, we delivered on:
- 36 hours of careers events
- 39 hours of mock interviews
- 5 student employability events, engaging more than 200 students
- 15 weeks of paid student placements
Teachers, coordinators, and students repeatedly told us how much confidence these sessions sparked — for some young people, just as valuable as any qualification.

Strengthening employability in our communities
Our Turning Points programme delivered 62 hours of employability training to 13 people facing real barriers to employment, with strong feedback about increased confidence, new skills, and feeling genuinely prepared for future roles in the world of work.
We also launched collaborative programmes designed to create more meaningful employment pathways — especially for people who don’t usually get those chances.

Creating pathways for prison leavers
Across four prisons, we delivered:
- 31 hours of in-prison employability activity across 4 prisons
- Future Skills employer insights
- Waste management learning sessions
- A specially created employment opportunity for an ex-offender
This work has been shaped by partnerships with Complete Skills Solutions, HMPPS, and Groundwork — and it’s already contributing to more sustainable futures on release.

Investing back into our communities
This year we provided £5,665 in donations, community skip support, and collaborative projects with partners including Wates, Caddick, Equans, Morgan Sindall, and more.
From spring cleans to environmental projects, these small practical contributions made a big difference for local groups.
Looking ahead
We’re excited to share two major developments for the year ahead:
- A new cable segregation workshop in HMP Manchester
- A KWMSE Welding Academy, designed to open new eco-industry pathways while addressing real skills shortages
Both will strengthen our commitment to creating hands-on training and work routes for the people who need them most.

Thank you for being part of it
Everything in this report happened because organisations chose to work with a social enterprise and help fund our mission through their waste spend.
To everyone who partnered with us this year — thank you.
Your commitment has created opportunities, built confidence, and helped people move forward.
