Waste Sector Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships offer the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, all while studying for a chosen career.

In 2024, Kenny Waste Management is building partnerships to help our team to provide meaningful apprenticeship opportunities in the waste sector.

We were delighted to welcome Simon and Amber from Tameside College to our Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), which is also home to our welder team. Together, our aim is to explore the potential for us to take on our very first welding apprentice in 2024.

Our company founders, Ted and John Kenny, welded together our first skips, and even hand-fabricated our first set of skip loading gear, back in 1985. We’ve come a long way since then, but welding is a vital skill that remains close to our hearts.

Apprenticeships play an important role in career development, for people of all ages, backgrounds, and career levels. But you might be asking “Why should employers prioritise apprenticeships?”

For businesses looking to develop a motivated, skilled, and qualified workforce, apprenticeships simply make sense.

🛠️ 86% of employers say apprenticeships helped them develop skills relevant to their organisation.

📈 78% of employers say apprenticeships helped them improve productivity.

🌟 74% of employers say apprenticeships helped them improve the quality of their product or service.

Many of our employees started with us as apprentices, building their career with us from the ground-up, and still putting their learning into practice years later. If you, or someone you know, are excited at the prospect of earning-while-learning at a UK leading independent waste management business, keep tabs on our website for upcoming opportunities, in partnership with our very own social enterprise…
